Most Alveys get used for rock and beach fishing; their simple, no-nonsense design being at home where sand and salt water are constantly on the attack. But different models have a strong offshore following. But an Alvey does have a number of advantages over threadlines and overheads when fishing floating baits.

Fine Jewelry Are you looking for the perfect gift for your fishing pal? C’mon in and cast a spell Let your hook always be cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be fish. Reel moves, cranks, handle swivels, and the drag lever even moves! Perfect for the deep sea fisherman or charter boat captain. And capn’ don’t forget, it may be an advertising tool for business! The bail will accept up to a mm chain.
Adding a second lure doubles the chances of contacting fish, but a slider doesn’t double the chances of hooking fish. Unfortunately a slider is free to move up and down on the line depending on trolling speed and the depth fished. When a fish hits a free moving slider, there’s no resistance against the fish until the angler trips the downrigger release and reels up all the slack line.
When retrieving the line, an arched rotating pick-up mechanism or bail lays down the line on the spool, simultaneously reversing the twists that resulted from casting. Spinning reels are an excellent choice for light tackle and easy to use by less experienced anglers.
This forgetting is natural and it is adaptive because it clears our memory for things that keep coming at us. The problem, however, is that in the process of all of this memory purging, our brain often forgets important information and useful little details. Fishing is a game of knowledge, and we gather knowledge from a variety of places. From weekend anglers to the top tournament angler, we seek more information to help us catch more fish, more consistently.
We work with other anglers within our network, we search the internet, magazines, television shows and tournament results for information that will help us catch more fish. Nothing, however, beats the knowledge we learn from first-hand experience on the water. The problem is storing that information and recalling it when the time is right. It’s interesting how I can remember catching a particular fish on a bait on an exact spot five years ago. At the same time, I might forget the adjustments I made to the outrigger clips or the hook style I was using or sea conditions that led to catching that fish on that particular day.

There are two main types of bolted joints designs in which comprises of Tension Joints, consisting of bolted and clamped components and Shear Joints. Both joints are very common and vital part of pressurised systems yet the self-loosening of bolted connections is a crucial failure for joints under transverse dynamic loads. Flange Management System can assure that all process system flanges identified are recorded and have been mechanically completed in a controlled manner that helps minimise downtime cost, eliminates issues such as leakage when combining with Nitrogen and Helium Leak Testing Services as well as to increase end user productivity.
Torquing and Tensioning of flanges and joints during the construction period to a high standard using MCCS own personnel, equipment and software. Sea Sherpa Leave a comment They say there is a reason why the footy finishes in September… and in yards all over Victoria, the frustration of teams getting knocked out of finals is taken out on kayaks and boats as winter tarps are lifted and pressure washers are put to good use. Richmond yaks are usually cleaned in August, but this year the dust gathers a little longer… As with most things, every yak fisho will have a preferred technique, bait, lure, spot etc for chasing snapper, and there are plenty more seasoned snapper whisperers out there than myself, but this might give kayak fishos chasing reds for the first time a starting point for the upcoming season.
The main run of reds occurs when the waster temperature in the bays reaches parity with the water temperature offshore. This generally occurs in October, but can vary depending on the weather conditions. As you can see, currently the bays are still a little cold so the big influx has not yet occurred and fish being caught this time of year will most likely be fish resident to bay that can be caught right through the winter.
Problem definition. After fitting the x-mas tree and the platform flowlines, a hook up spool had to be made in between. To ensure that it fitted in one go a 3D scan of the flanges was made.

Well you came to the right place. Because the most common problem facing anglers who use braided line is that many fishing knots that are strong with mono are not nearly as good when used with braid given the vast differences in the two line types.
Since this connection is so vital, we decided to perform a test that matched the most popular knots against one another to determine which one truly is the best fishing knot for braided line to a swivel, hook, or lure.

Not sure what boat to choose? Can’t find an open date? During warmer water years yellowfin tuna can also be caught at this time. Fishing for each species of tuna is roughly the same so regardless of which tuna species being targeted the same fishing techniques apply. During the early summer months schools of albacore tuna first appear in southern California waters following moderate warm waters and bait fish.
The first few minutes of an Alvey hook-up on a big red are a frantic, heart-in-the-mouth experience. At kg that’s not a bad fish, but quite a bit shy of the magical 20lb mark. The author says it went like stink on the Alvey, though.
New Jersey’s Big Fluke Offshore October 04, With lots of throwbacks these days, anglers are now plying the deeper waters of the Klondike Bank and Manasquan Ridge, plus countless other lumps and bumps. By Milt Rosko It wasn’t too many years ago when fluke fishermen exited Jersey’s inlets and headed either north or south along the beach, shut down their motors a couple of hundred yards from shore and began fishing. Those were the days when fluke were plentiful, and there were lots of to inch-long summer flounder to satisfy the whims of anglers.
Now, as the fleets of charter, party and private boats leave the inlets, they head east, often traveling several miles to choice bottoms, the ridges, lumps and banks that rise high off the surrounding depths. Still, others set up along the edges of the shipping channels, such as those leading to New York Harbor to the north and the Delaware River ports to the south. The reason fluke fishing has taken on this new dimension is that larger fluke consistently take up residence on the grounds farther from shore, where there is an abundance of forage, such as sand eels, herring and squid.
In addition, the big fluke will often dine on the yearling of bottom feeders, such as porgies, seabass, bergalls and blackfish that also reside on these grounds. Unfortunately, to fish these deep-water offshore grounds, you’ll have to forego the light spinning and popping outfits you may be accustomed to using. The offshore bottom is just so strewn with rocks, mussel beds and debris that light lines would result in too great an attrition of rigs.
As such, I generally move up to a medium-weight graphite boat rod, measuring 7 feet in length and rated for pound-test line.

Wahoo bait leaders Got my care package yesterday, and work is at a stand still right now, so I sat down at the kitchen table this morning to have one more go at puttting all the tackle in the right place, spooled up a GS with yds of 50 lb Izorline Spectra and topped it with 30 lb Big Game. With plenty of time on my hands, I decided to play around with the Sevenstrand wire and the crimps.
All I did was put a metal ring on the end of each spool of wire, and found I was able to use the A1 sleeves on both the 27 lb and the 40 lb. I’ll pick up another bag of A1 sleeves and a spool of 60 lb in Sandy Eggo, gotta buy something down there, right? Anyway, I’ll be making up a few leaders tomorrow, but what a pain when the stranded wire starts to unravel or “untwist.
I tried putting a drop of Super Glue on it and that seems to have done the trick. You could crimp lb mono sleeves and swage the cable for a mainsail halyard with these things. Luckily, the cavities in my new Sato pliers are just the right size for this “wahoo stuff” and I made the crimps with them.
